Final Fantasy IX Remake Rumours Backed Up By Yet Another Major Source

As chatter of a Final Fantasy XI Remake gathers pace this week, another source has weighed in on the as-yet unannounced project, with Gematsu has claimed that Square Enix is indeed working on the title.

While Final Fantasy IX: Memoria Project is only a fan proof of concept that will not be released as a playable product, Gematsu understands that an actual Final Fantasy IX remake by Square Enix is currently in development..

The Final Fantasy IX Remake was originally outed in the Nvidia leak back in December 2020, which appeared alongside Final Fantasy Tactics Remastered. Not much else has been heard on the project, although recently ResetEra tipster ImAHeroToo suggested the game may be a PlayStation-exclusive.

Earlier this week, journalist Jeff Grubb said that the Final Fantasy IX Remake is ‘real and happening,’ although we’ve still yet to get an official announcement.

Final Fantasy IX was released for PSOne back in 2000 and is a fan-favourite entry in the venerable RPG franchise.
