Remedy’s Sam Lake took to the stage at the Summer Game Fest kickoff event to unveil the first Alan Wake 2 gameplay footage.
There’s two playable characters in the game, namely Alan Wake himself and Saga Anderson, who is an FBI agent who travels to Bright Falls to investigate mysterious goings-on. Players will switch between both characters during the game, as the pages of a horror story manifest itself into the real world.
Lake said that the game is a sequel but also acts as a standalone experience, and can be enjoyed by players who haven’t played the original Alan Wake. While Anderson’s missions take place in Bright Falls and its surrounding areas, Wake is trapped in the Dark Place, so both characters will offer a different experience.
Alan Wake 2 is scheduled for release on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S on October 17, 2023.
