Siren Franchise 20th Anniversary Celebrations Spark Hope For Revival On PS5

Sony has announced plans to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Siren, the survival horror series developed by the now-defunct SIE Japan Studio.

The format holder announced its plans on the Japanese PlayStation Twitter account, although at this point there isn’t much to see.

Siren was originally released back in 2003 and is known as Forbidden Siren in PAL regions. The game takes place in the village of Hanuda, with the story unfolding through the perspective of 10 different characters. Players face off against undead-like beings known as Shibito, which causes bleeding from the eyes and near-invulnerability. It’s classic survival horror, albeit leans towards the supernatural.

The sequel Forbidden Siren 2 was released in 2006, which takes place on an island off the coast of mainland Japan. Meanwhile, Siren: Blood Curse, a reimagining of the original game, was released in July 2008.

While there’s nothing announced in regards to a revival of the series, we can hope that a Siren PS5 game is in development.
