Final Fantasy XVI Demo Appears On PS Store

The PlayStation Store has posted a listing for the previous-confirmed Final Fantasy XVI Demo on PS5, suggesting a release is imminent.

Square Enix had already announced that it would be releasing a playable demo of the highly anticipated RPG, which will feature the first couple of hours on the game where players control a teenaged Clive. However, it didn’t announce a date for the demo, although the fact it’s now on the PS Store means it can’t be far off.

Interestingly, the Final Fantasy XVI demo isn’t viewable unless you use a mobile to browse for it. Even then, it appears not everyone can find it.

Final Fantasy XVI was originally considered for release on both PS5 & PS4, although producer Naoki Yoshida said that it would have required around one-two years of development to reach a level of quality the team was happy with for a cross-generation release.

Meanwhile, Yoshida-san explained that the game’s Mature rating materialised due to the fact regulations are stricter nowadays due to the increase in visual fidelity in video games.

Final Fantasy XVI is pencilled in for a June 22, 2023 release on PS5.
