Final Fantasy XVI Live Stream Confirms New Game+ ‘Final Fantasy’ Difficulty Mode

Final Fantasy XVI developer Square Enix revealed during a live stream over the weekend that the game will include a New Game+ difficulty option known as Final Fantasy Mode.

Final Fantasy Mode will feature higher enemy levels to provide a greater challenge in combat, and raises the game’s level cap to 100. In addition, the Ultima Weapon is available to craft and your character’s level, possessions and abilities will be carried over. Finally, you’ll nab a Gold Trophy for completing this mode.

Square Enix announced during the same live stream that it will release a day one patch for Final Fantasy XVI, despite originally stating it had no plans to do so. Last week, during a special pre-release event, it was revealed that the Kingdom Hearts team and Platinum Games were both involved in the game’s production.

Final Fantasy XVI is due out on June 22 for PS5.
