Final Fantasy XVI Producer Confirms There Will Be A Day One Patch

Square Enix has announced that it will launch a Final Fantasy XVI Day One patch, despite previously confirming they had no plans to do so.

Speaking during a pre-release live stream over the weekend, the development team revealed that the Final Fantasy XVI Day One update will add fixes for progression and crashes, while also implementing performance improvements. The game’s producer, Naoki Yoshida, revealed that the improvements to frame rate are related to scenes that feature many characters on screen.

Elsewhere, the team revealed that they have also taken on board feedback in regards to motion blur and will include the ability to turn it off in a future patch.

Final Fantasy XVI is scheduled for release on June 22, 2023 although copies have already started appearing in the wild, so be careful of spoilers.
