Rockstar Games has caused controversy in a recent GTA Online update, which has removed hundreds of “lesser used” vehicles removed from the game, with some of them now shifted behind a paywall.
The company announced prior to the release of the San Andreas Mercenaries update earlier this week that some cards would be given the boot from the in-game shop. While at the time it didn’t go into any details on this, fans have since discovered that nearly 200 cars have been removed as part of plans to “streamline the shopping experience.”
While the removal of this many cards has irked fans already, GTA Online players are even more miffed due to the fact some vehicles can only be purchased by GTA Online+ subscribers. As such, content that was once free now requires a monthly fee to access.
Rockstar Games launched GTA Online in October 2013, one month after Grand Theft Auto 5 hit PS3 and Xbox 360. The game has been constantly updated for nearly a decade now, and any plans for DLC For GTA 5 were scrapped in favour of producing new content for GTA Online.
Grand Theft Auto 6 is currently in development for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S, with a release date yet to be announced.
